....HOW TO INSTALL CLAY BLOCKS FOR HOME PLATE....

Mar-Co clay blocks should be installed in two-layer depths for stability in high traffic areas. A loose clay; such as, Mar-Co Mound Clay should be compacted so they form one solid continuous block.

Each batters box is  4' x 6'.  If the money is not available to do the entire batters box, a 3 ' x 4 ' area is usually sufficient. Blocks should be installed in both left and right batters boxes as well as the area behind home plate where the catcher and umpire stand. The blocks should be within one half inch (½") below the field surface after compaction, so that a light layer of infield material can be placed over the top of the blocks. The blocks should not placed deeper than one inch (1") below the surface. Approximately one hundred seventy (170) blocks and six (6) bags of clay are needed per 4' x 6' area. Reducing the size to 3' x4' will save approximately  50 blocks.
